In an attempt to document and expose the phenomena of incitement to sectarian and political hate in Lebanese media on the Internet, and working to reduce this phenomena, the Lebanese Civic Media Initiative, a Lebanese apolitical non-profit organization, launched in October 2008 a monitoring project documenting and criticizing publications on Lebanese news websites. The project was funded by Internews Network and lasted 6 months.

NGO accuses Lebanese media of inciting hatred, violence
Meeting looks at how news sources fan fires

BEIRUT: Much of Lebanon's news media are responsible for inciting hatred and violence among the country's citizens, the Lebanese Civic Media Initiative (LCMI) said on Tuesday.

The accusation came during an afternoon roundtable meeting at the Information Ministry organized by LCMI to announce the findings of a new report that surveyed a number of online news sources.
